Here, There and Everywhere

I usually try to have some idea of what I’m going to write before I sit down, but not tonight. Tonight is special. Tonight my marbles have gone spilling out of their little pouch and are rolling willy-nilly across the floor. The floor which, I must add, is still only half scrubbed. Half scrubbed? Why only half? Because I haven’t found the time to finish it.

Around here half is usually about as close as things get to being done. The floor is half scrubbed, the laundry is half folded, the kitchen is half baby proofed, dinner is half eaten, the kids are half monkey and I’m half asleep. Half.

My attention seems to be cut in half lately too. Phones ring at the grocery store, homework needs to be completed, baths fit in somewhere, dinner needs cooking, dishes need washing and kids need hugs. Guess what got left out. And all the rush so that after bedtime I could sit at the computer and finish a project for work. Although, to be fair, if it wasn’t work it would be something else that couldn’t wait. There’s always something that just can’t wait any longer.

Am I procrastinating? Nope. Just giving my brain a breather. I was working and I suddenly found myself ignoring all the rules of design aesthetics in order to just get the damn thing done. While I hate to admit this, I was contemplating using blink tags. That’s right, the most annoying HTML tag ever created. So I could go to sleep.

Lines need to be drawn somewhere and this seems like a good place to start one. Work is half done but I’m done in. Good night folks.
