Quote of the Day
Janet Reid on her blog, Query Shark/, said the following:
“Madmen are over used as villains and even in thrillers they are boring. The most interesting and compelling villains are the ones who would describe themselves as heroes of the story.”
This is exactly why I’m having trouble with my antagonist, he’s boring.
Welcome to December
I’m a day late and a dollar short, but that’s not unusual. I figured that since I took November off from blogging that no one would mind if I took one more day to not write anything at all. As you can see from the flashy badge and neat little widget on the right, I made it to my goal. I needed 50k to “win” NaNoWriMo but my personal goal was 80k to finish my book which I did at approximately 12:30am on Monday, November 30. Yay me!
It was a great month. I did more and better than I imagined I was capable of and it feels great to be able to say, “I wrote a book.” Now that I’m used to writing every day I’m planning to keep up the habit so hopefully you’ll be seeing a lot more posts from me. At least until I start editing the book or outlining my next project.
For right now though I have hours and hours of television sitting on my DVR and I haven’t read a book since October. And it’s December so there’s lots of shopping, cleaning, decorating and baking to be done. I’ve also got a small indoor triathlon in January that I need to train for. Oh, and we’re getting the house prepped to go on the market in February since we’re planning to move. I’m going to be busy but I’ve got a lot on my mind that’s just been rattling around waiting for November to end so I could examine my thoughts and put them in order to share. All in good time.
Today, if you think of it, raise a glass and toast to a successful NaNoWriMo and many more to come.
P.S. Kudos to Melonie over at The Original Drama Mama for winning her first NaNo with me. She’s a rock star!

Crazy November
More than 100,000 people across the world are now frantically trying to write novels of at least 50,000 words by the stroke of midnight on November 30th. While this has been going on since 1999 I’m participating in the madness for the first time.
